Natural Ways to Relieve Heart Burn During Pregnancy

August 18, 2016

Expecting is such an exciting time for whole family, this is a time for celebration but heart burn can really drag mom down! While this is a natural and normal course of pregnancy, there is no reason to just deal with the discomfort. Here are a few helpful and natural solutions to help you deal!

Although if your acid reflux seems at all extreme of abnormal contact your doctor.

Cooling Foods-

Raw green leafy vegetables are not only cooling to the digestive system but also packed with fiber, folate, iron, calcium and vitamin C. All the essentials to help baby grow healthy and strong.

Cucumber and Mint-

Try adding cucumber and mint to the water you sip on all day, that will help cool you down and keep you extra hydrated.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar-

Apple cider vinegar has been used for years to help combat heart burn. Dilute 1 teaspoon in about 8 ounces of purified water. You can eventually build up to 1 tablespoon. Drink throughout the day.

This may seem counter intuitive, heart burn can actually be caused from lower levels of stomach acid. Adding a touch throughout the day can add much relief.

Pickle Pops-

Ever wonder why pregnant women seem to always crave pickles? Intuitively the body knows that the vinegar used to pickle those pickles can help increase stomach acid.

What better way to get a little extra pickle juice than in popsicle form? Skip those sweet sugary popsicles and try a pickle pop! These are usually available in most grocery stores.

~ However use in moderation those are salty!

Break Up Your Meals-

Calorie and protein intake is a must when you are feeding 2, however eating too much in one sitting can be a major trigger for heart burn.

Try breaking meals up into smaller portions and eating more regularly.

Papaya- READ BEFORE TAKING

There have been studies that show that eating papaya or taking papaya pills while pregnant can be helpful for heart burn. If you plan on taking papaya in any form wait until after the first trimester! Ripe papaya can be helpful while unripe has been found to cause early contractions. CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING.

Bamboo Shavings-

Zhu Ru a Chinese herb has been know to clear heat in the stomach causing acid reflux. Momma in china have been chewing on this herb for years. If you are suffering from heart burn your acupuncturist can help by suggesting a safe herbal formula.

Acupuncture-

In Chinese medicine heart burn is a sign of stomach heat (fire), which is also known to cause constipation, nausea, vomiting, and constant hunger. Acupuncture can help your body rebalance in a way that is effective and safe for both momma and baby.
