How To Detox After The Holidays
We're coming off the big holiday season! Whether you celebrate all of them or none of them, you are likely feeling you've veered off track a little bit. Food, exercise and mindset can all change when you've been on holiday. We've got some tips on how to detox.
Drink water! Lots of fluids!
This one is pretty obvious. If you can commit to only one thing on this list, commit to this. Flush it out!
Eat lightly
Eat lightly to balance the heaviness from the last few weeks. This doesn't mean fasting, however! We don't recommend going to the extremes. But focus on soups, smoothies, salads and green foods for the next couple of weeks. Hold off on empty carbohydrates for a few days.
essential oil belly rubs
Rub some Peppermint Oil, Eden's Garden Digest, or Licorice Oil on your stomach to help relieve bloating, gas, and indigestion. Reapply throughout the day as needed. If you have sensitive skin, dilute essential oil with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil.
Warm the system
Sauna, light exercise, yoga, hot water bottle, and core exercises will all help warm up the body, especially around the core, helping to boost digestion and your metabolism.
patience/kindness
Lastly, practice patience and kindness with yourself. Holidays bring up a lot of expectations while being a time of respite and indulgence. So it becomes a perfect for self judgment. Let yourself enjoy the time off, the meals indulged in, and the rest you gave your body! Now you can get back to your routine. No need to fast or exercise heavily or treat your body with harshness just because you maybe enjoyed some time off!
